Sausage and Peppers Pasta


Ingredients Needed to Make Sausage and Peppers Pasta


1 package of Sweet Italian Sausage. sliced

1 shallot, minced

1 large green pepper, sliced

1 large red pepper, sliced

1 large yellow onion, sliced

24 oz jar of pasta sauce

1/4 cup of heavy cream

1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese

Handful of basil leaves, chopped

3/4 box of rigatoni pasta (don't boil the whole box)

Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste


Directions to Make Sausage and Peppers Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta for about 7 minutes, or just until tender, but still firm. Drain and set aside but save about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

  2. Brown sausage in a skillet until browned on all sides. Set aside when done.

  3. In the same skillet, add shallot and garlic and cook until translucent. Then add sliced onions and peppers and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until tender and then set aside.

  4. Add jar of pasta sauce to the skillet and add fresh basil.

  5. Add 1/4 cup of heavy cream and Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until well combined.

  6. Add the sausage, peppers, pasta, pasta water back to the skillet and toss well. Simmer until the pasta is fork tender.

  7. Garnish with more Parmesan cheese and enjoy!
