Below is a bit of Mama Fay’s story.
My Mother was raised on a farm in north Mississippi. She learned to cook standing on a chair when she was too small to reach the stove! My grandmother had 8 children and she was expected to help my papaw in the fields so the kids had to do their part. Mother loved cooking and she was a wonderful cook! She hardly ever sat down to eat with us, she was too busy making sure everything was ok and my Dad’s tea glass was filled at all times! She cooked everyday and my Dad never went to work without a home cooked breakfast. The recipe I am sharing is one of the more simple things she cooked, but it was always the most requested! Church socials, family gatherings, everyone always asked for my Mothers baked beans! She delighted that people loved them so much when they were so simple!
