Steak Salad with Dijon Balsamic Dressing

I love making my own salad dressing not only because they are so easy to make but also taste better than most bottled dressings that you find in the grocery store. There are only a few key ingredients that go into most salad dressings and I am sure you have them in your pantry. You need olive oil, some type of vinegar and dijon mustard. If you also enjoy making your own homemade dressing, you will love this steak salad recipe! Here’s how to make it!

Ingredients for the Salad

4 stalks of romaine hearts, chopped

1/3 cup of red onion, chopped

1/4 cup of scallions, chopped

1 avocado, sliced

1/3 cup of carrots, sliced

1/3 cup of cucumbers, chopped

1/3 cup of red pepper, chopped

Blue cheese crumbles

Seared steak, sliced

Balsamic glaze


Ingredients for Salad Dressing

1/3 cup of olive oil

1/2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar

1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme

1/2 of teaspoon of oregano

1/2 tablespoon of honey

Salt and Pepper to taste


  1. Season steak with salt and pepper and sear in a hot cast iron skillet until desired doneness. Set aside to rest.

  2. Add chopped romaine and toppings to a large bowl. Top with blue cheese crumbles.

  3. In a small mason jar, add all ingredients for the dressing and shake until well combined.

  4. Top salad with sliced steak and add more blue cheese crumbles and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

  5. Serve with the dijon balsamic dressing and enjoy!
