As Mother’s Day approaches, I am continuing my I Remember Mama series with Mama Alice’s Neiman Marcus Cake. This cake is also known as ooey goey cake. I had never had this cake so I was excited to try it. Alice’s son Jeremiah sent me her recipe and told me all about his amazing mom. See his words below.
My mom’s the youngest of 7. My aunt was the first born . This recipe is for my mom. It’s a Neiman Marcus cake Also known as ooey goey cake . My mom only makes it in Christmas . The story behind it is she got the recipe from her coworker in 2004. When she baked it in Christmas 2004, It has been a staple and a tradition in our household. Me and my two brothers look forward to making it every Christmas.
My mom’s info : Her name is Alice Anthony. She’s a mother to 3 men : ages 30, 25(me) and 21 . She’s a 2x Grambling State University alumni . She’s a social worker and an amazing cook . She has a dessert for every holiday, such as homemade hot banana pudding for Easter and sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving . She instilled principles and respect in all of her sons. And we love her .

Ingredients to Make Neiman Marcus Cake
1st layer
1 box of yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 oz of chopped pecans
1 stick of butter, softened
2nd layer
1 box of powdered sugar
1 egg
8 oz of whipped cream cheese
1 teaspoon and a half of vanilla extract
Directions to Make Neiman Marcus Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a medium bowl, add came mix, egg, pecans and butter into a bowl and mix until well combined.
Press mixture into a greased 9x12 pan.
In another bowl, add powdered sugar, egg, cream cheese and vanilla and mix well until full combined.
Pour mixture on top of the first layer.
Bake for 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!
